Among the top tier of the most successful productions in the history of theatre, THE LION KING epitomizes the familial and fantastical elements essential to a crowd-pleasing hit fit for all ages.

Based on the international smash 1994 Disney animated film of the same name, the stage version of THE LION KING presented an even greater challenge than the House of Mouse's previous theatrical venture, BEAUTY & THE BEAST: how do you present singing lions live in a theater eight times a week? Enter Julie Taymor.

One of the most visionary and idiosyncratic artists of her generation, Taymor brought her extensive background in puppetry and costume design to coerce the beloved story - inspired by Shakespeare's HAMLET - to life in a brand new way, amply abetted by her extensive directorial resume.

Aided appreciably with an Academy Award-winning score by Elton John, Tim Rice and Hans Zimmer, the Broadway iteration of THE LION KING evokes the same excitement, enjoyment, pathos and passion of the classic film while bringing a wholly new look and feel to the timeless tale, making it alive for a new generation at every performance as it plays to thousands of patrons every night around the world.

THE LION KING took home six 1998 Tony Awards including Best Musical, proving that the impossible is possible with expansive imaginations striving to do what previously had never been done before.

Similarly, the  2019 Lotus Lee Foundation Children's Play Initiative winner will undoubtedly have ingenuity, inventiveness and genius to spare.
