Alibaba is in Collaboration with Performer Mao Weitao on Theatre Investment
The Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has shown an increasing interest in cultural collaboration with investors and artists.

Mar 27th. Baiyue Cultural Creativity Co., Ltd has been officially set up by Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, Song Weiping, founder of China Greentown and Yuedu actress Mao Weitao.
The company has been registered in March, 2016, in a collaboration of Alibaba, China Greentown, Yuanxingdi Investment, and Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yueju Institution, a China-based Yue theatre organization. Baiyue Culture Creativity Co, Ltd., is a comprehensive cultural enterprise that provides a series of services on Theatre administration, play production, international collaboration, art education, theatre talent agency, as well as theatre investment, etc.

Mao Weitao, the well-known Yueju (Shaoxingxi) performer, serves as the chairwoman of Baiyue Cultural Creativity Co., Ltd. It is her very first step beyond her previous career as former president of Zhejiang Yueju Theatre Company.
The major service of Baiyue Cultural Creativity Co., Ltd lies in theatre administration, play production and art education.
Operating China Yueju Theatre is among the main service of Baiyue Culture Creativity. The theatre serves as an integration of theatre, museum, exhibitions, tea ceremony, bookstore and a center for leisure lifestyle. It is currently under construction by the side of the West Lake, Hangzhou, and will be welcoming its grand opening by the end of the year.
In the light of play production and international collaboration, Baiyue Culture Creativity has been collaborated with the National Theatre of England on the stage show Wolf Totem, based on the novel with the same name written by Jiang Rong. The show would be on stage in 2020. Meanwhile, the musical Big Fish, co-funded by Baiyue Culture Creative and the National Theatre of England, has enjoyed its successful debut in London by the end of 2017. It is expected to further greet its audiences in west London, and welcome its Chinese version tour when climate permits.
Also Baiyue Culture Creativity and Royal Shakespeare company has signed an agreement regarding art education. The collaboration would carry out a series of theatre education plans, which would introduce world-class art education programs to China.
